Golden Films (or Goodtimes Entertainment) is an animation company that specializes in cheap rip-offs. Most of their library consists of movies adapted from the same stories Disney did. Not just the fairy tales, but also things like Greek mythology, the story of Pocahontas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, none of which they would have attempted if Disney hadn't done it first.

Why They Suck[]

Ugly evil queen

This is supposed to be the evil queen in one of their two Snow White movies. Notice anything wrong with the picture?

  1. Golden Films just doesn't seem to get the stories their movies are based on. Not saying that dismissively, they actually don't get their source material.
  2. Their films are almost always watered-down, with as little violent content as possible (and they made movies based around King Arthur, Hercules, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, stories that are filled with violence and darker themes?), they change very little about the fairy tales they adapt (when a lot of those stories are outdated, meaning there have to be changes in a modern retelling), and the few changes they do make are either pointless or downright nonsensical (fairies in Rudolph, ghosts in Beauty and the Beast, every dam thing in Thumbelina).

Downfall[]

Golden Films was active from the '80s to the early 2000s. Their last three films were co-productions with other companies.
